It’s National Children’s Dental Health Month! This February, we want to remind parents of the importance of helping kids develop good oral health habits at a young age. When your kids get into the habit of brushing and flossing for two minutes, twice a day, they are more likely to prevent cavities and keep their teeth healthy as they grow!
Now is the perfect time to schedule your child’s first dental appointment of 2015! If your child is nervous about visiting the dentist, here are a few tips to help make your dental visit a positive experience for everyone involved.
- Schedule a Morning Appointment – If your child is nervous about visiting our office, consider scheduling a dental appointment in the morning. Children tend to be more relaxed and cooperative when they are well-rested.
- Emphasis Positivity – Kids can pick up on when you’re feeling anxious. If you feel positive about the visit, your kids are more likely to feel that way too!
- Talk to Them Beforehand – Talk to your child about the importance of oral health before visiting the dentist. There are plenty of fun tooth activities on the ADA website to help get your kids interested in caring for their teeth.
