We know it can be hard to get your little ones to eat healthy. However, overall health and oral health go hand in hand! This doesn’t mean your children need to avoid their favorite sweet treats at all time. Here are a couple tips on how to snack smart!
Everything in moderation.
Soda, candy, cookies and fruit juices are ok sometimes. It’s important to monitor your kids intake of items full of sugar and keep them away from it when possible.
Fruits and veggies.
Did you know that fruits and vegetables should be hald of what your children are eating daily? If you’re looking for a snack for lunch boxes or after school, try raw vegetables such as celery, carrots or broccoli and fuits such as oranges or melon.
Gum is a favorite amongst children. However, all gum isn’t created equal! When selecting a chewing gum for your little ones, be sure to purchase sugarless. Also, look for the ADA Seal of Acceptance on the package!
Dairy is an integral part of a healthy mouth and diet. If you’re looking for a snack, low-fat cheese or low-fat yogurt are both great choices!
In addition to snacking smart, be sure your children are brushing and flossing for two minutes, twice a day! Their teeth will reap the benefits.
