Sometimes baby teeth are overlooked considering they eventually fall out and are replaced with larger, adult teeth. This doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be cared for like adult teeth. Cavities are a buildup of plaque that led to eating away the enamel of the tooth. This is not a good thing and should absolutely be taken care of!

What To Do When My Child Has A Cavity

Come into our office. We will take care of your child’s tooth by filling the cavity to prevent further infection, pain, sensitivity, or tooth loss.

How Do I Know My Child Has A Cavity

There are multiple signs of cavities, here are the top 5:

  • Tooth sensitivity to temperature
  • Dark spots
  • Bad breath
  • Pus
  • Consistent toothache

What Happens During A Filling

First, we will evaluate the tooth and cavity. After, if the tooth is in fact a cavity, your dentist will numb the teeth, gums, and surround skin and drill out the decay. The final step is the filling. When the baby tooth is lost, the filling will come out with it and the new tooth should grow in healthy. If there is a problem with the new tooth, we will notice at the next appointment and make sure to fix it immediately.
