Want to wear white after Labor Day? It may be against the fashion rules, but it isn’t a problem in the dental world! Add these few fruits and vegetable options for your Labor Day weekend festivities — you can thank us (and mother nature) later!

Oranges. Although this bright fruit contains high levels of citrus, the orange peels are not as acidic. The peels contain variants of vitamin C, which can substitute store-bought teeth whiteners.

Strawberries. The malic acid in this sweet, summery fruit acts as a natural whitener to remove surface tooth discoloration. But be careful, brushing afterwards is a must since the berry also contains lots of sugar!

Carrots. The stains on your teeth don’t stand a chance against this vegetables abrasive surface and high water content. Snack on it raw with one of your favorite dips!

Broccoli. Another raw veggie you can add to your appetizer list — broccoli acts as a natural toothbrush that cleans your teeth as you chomp!

Cheese. The calcium in cheese helps strengthen your teeth and gums, and guard your mouth against future tooth decay. Plus, most cheeses are nearly colorless, so they won’t stain your teeth!

We hope you and your pearly whites enjoy your Labor Day weekend! Should any dental emergencies arise while celebrating, please don’t hesitate to give one of our offices a call!
