New York is breathtaking in the fall. But one of the best places to enjoy this special time of the year isn’t in the big city, it’s right here on Long Island! The 118 mile-long island we call home is filled with fall activities, and we’ve listed some of the locals favorites to-dos.

Take A Hike

LI has some of the best hiking views in New York. Want to take a walk in the woods? You can head to the Nature Conservancy’s Uplands Farm, which features a double-loop trail surrounded by red cedar, oak, and hickory putting on a beautiful colorful display. How about near the water? There are a number of hiking trails available, like Garvies Point Preserve or Sagamore Hill, which both lead down to a quiet beach.

Go Apple Picking

Long Island in the fall is the perfect place to go apple picking with family or friends. You’ll end up going home with a basket full of apples in raw, cider, or pie form.

Why Not Pumpkin Picking, Too?

Don’t stop at the apples, try pumpkin picking, too! Many LI pumpkin farms also offer seasonal fun like corn mazes and Halloween events. And the fun doesn’t stop once you get home — pumpkin carving anyone?

Visit A Haunted Place On The Island

Visit a haunted place, if you dare! There’s plenty of places to get a huge fright — from a psychiatric center to a light house.

There are plenty of hot spots around Long Island to enjoy the fall season! Have any more ideas to add to the list? We’ love to hear them!
